This will probably be scrapped later; I'm just so ridiculously proud of the design that I -had- to post her somewhere. X3 I wrote up a profile for a future Sailormars character for an RPG *bekuki is running at Shadowed Memory. Plot and character information included below, with credits at the end of the TL-DR. :3 If you read the whole thing, I give to you internet cookies. To the left is the character design. On the right is a close-up of her earrings; the long one is in each earlobe, with the smaller one at the top in the cartiledge of her left ear, just at the upper curve. I haven't been this proud of an otaku senshi design in a long, -long- time.

Excerpt taken directly from the RPG forum. Applications are still open, though all of the Sol Senshi places are taken. Be warned; these are not your typical Sol Senshi. They are completely unrelated to the originals - there is no connection whatsoever regarding genetics or heritage. Dreams, mysterious gifts, and the like are the only connection the inheritors have to those who came before.


Set well into the reign of ChibiUsa, who is now known as Queen Serenity, Shadowed Memory focuses on the new holders of the Sailor Crystals of the Sol Senshi.

Shortly after the arrival of a new enemy, the Queen passes away from a mysterious disease, which occurs almost overnight. With her death, the Silver Crystal goes missing. It is up to the new senshi, in their first real test of strength, to not only find it, but to defeat their enemy, a mock human made out of parts collected from corpses. Her goal is unclear, but it seems she does have a connection to the Queen's death.

Also mixed into this is the conflict over artificial humans, humans created by other humans, by use of science. Outlawed by the Queen, it is none the less practiced in secret. This secret practice seems to be connected to the villains somehow.

Together the new Sol senshi must overcome their differences, and fight to save their world.

Which may be easier said the done.

Hair Style: Kyuseisha wears her hair down long to her shoulders, where it is all caught together in a messy, unkempt braid that is fastened there and falls to about her waistline. The braid is usually woven through with pale yellow cloth to try and keep all the stray hairs from sticking out. Her bangs are long enough to get in her eyes, as they drape down past her chin. She is constantly tucking said bangs behind her ears to try and keep them out of the way.

Likes: Kyuseisha enjoys gardening and is quite the green thumb. She also enjoys floral design and arrangement, and the occasional baseball game. She is an admitted "closet idol", which is her way of saying that she loves to sing but is terrified of doing it in front of anyone, and enjoys most forms of music. She is also an amateur photographer and watercolor painter. She is known to enjoy the occasional camping trip with her father.

Dislikes: Kyuseisha has a low tolerance for impatience; as a gardener she understands well that patience is a virtue and that we can't always have what we want right away. She cannot stand being embarrassed or made fun of. She dislikes most sports activities (with the aforementioned exception of baseball). She prefers quiet, calm activity to raucous entertainment.

Personality: Kyuseisha, or "Kyu" as she is known to most of her friends, is a quiet, soft-spoken girl with an absolute love for nature. She adores the small garden that she has set up outside her parents' home, and tends it almost with the reverence that one would see in a religious place. She gives the same loving care to anyone or anything that she considers friend of loved one. Kyuseisha is a patient individual who is surprisingly willing to take charge of a situation, when the situation warrants it. If her guidance and expertise is not needed, she is more than willing to fade to the background and accept the authority of the individual in charge. That streak of steel in her nature, however, means that she will not be afraid of duty.

Kyuseisha has very few friends, but this doesn't matter to her; the friends she has are important to her, and she is always mindful to treat them just as she would like to be treated. This willingness to give and take in any relationship has endeared her to those who know her.

Phobias: Kyuseisha is deathly afraid of fire. When she was younger, her father took her and her brother on a camping trip one weekend. One night, their father was preparing to cook their evening meal while Kyuseisha and her brother played nearby. Her brother tripped over a tree branch, stumbled into the small cookstove their father was occupied with, and the bottle of lighter fluid fell into the small, gas-powered flame. The resulting fireball burned their father very badly about the arms and shoulders. Thankfully the man had good enough reflexes to protect his face. He spent several weeks in the hospital recovering from severe second and third degree burns, and required many skin grafts before he was whole once again. The man still carries the horrible scars of the accident, and to this day Kyuseisha is afraid of fire.

Academics: Kyuseisha excels at most academic subjects, since she is the type of person to study dilligently no matter what the assignment. Her two great loves are history and biology.

History: Kyuseisha was born in Tokyo to loving parents who had been trying for several years to have children. She was cherished from childbirth, and has enjoyed a happy family home since her earliest memory. Her brother, born two years later, was treated no differently, and so as the two have grown they have developed a close, good friendship. From earliest childhood, Kyuseisha was her father's daughter. She shared his love for gardening and for the great outdoors. When Kyuseisha was seven years old, Rokuro took her out into their small yard area and showed her a section of fresh topsoil that he had set apart. He explained to her that some of life's greatest lessons could be learned from a garden, and that he wanted to teach her why he loved his own well-kept garden so much. Over the course of the next several years, Kyuseisha would learn about language, arithmetic, history, and science at school, and then come home to spend the next few hours learning about life from a patient, loving father.

About a year ago, Kyuseisha began having strange dreams, or dream, rather, since they all seemed to be the same one. A series of monsters would attack somewhere seemingly chosen at random in Tokyo, and a set of shadowed figures Kyuseisha couldn't quite see would appear and dispatch them. The dream, though impersonal it seemed, always made Kyuseisha awaken in cold sweats, sometimes trembling from the stress of it. By morning, however, she would have the dream brushed off as though it had actually meant nothing. Then, weeks before the sudden death of Queen Serenity, the dream changed. The fight seemed to freeze, as if paused by some transdimensional VCR remote. One of the shadowed figures turned to face Kyuseisha, and stepped forward into the light of a lone street lamp. She was a tallish, slender girl with raven-colored hair and deep violet eyes. She wore what seemed to be a sailor fuku in red and violet. She held out one hand, gloved in purest white, and opened it. On her palm rested a small ruby star, set in silver and hanging from a silver chain. "This," the figure said, "is my legacy. I leave it to you, Sailor Mars. Wear it proudly, wear it always. The day will come when you know what to do with it."

Kyuseisha did not awaken that night in cold sweat. The dream faded away, leaving the girl still asleep. When she awoke the next morning, she was warm inside, as though from the good feelings of a job well done. Upon her nightstand was a silver chain. From the end of the chain hung a ruby star, set in silver. Kyuseisha is unafraid, knowing that the figure she saw in her dream was right. She'll know what to do when the time comes.

Element: Fire, with powers coming from growth, change and restoration (Consider how volcanic soil is some of the most fertile in the world, despite the destruction the initial lava flow brings: the nutrients and minerals left behind nurture growth. Fire brings change, and not all of that change is destructive.)

Henshin Item: the Bright Star of Mars; a star-shaped ruby, set in silver and hanging from a silver chain.

Henshin: Mars Planet Power, Make-Up! As Kyuseisha speaks, she raises slightly off the ground. The ruby pendant begins to glow, and a tail of bright crimson flame sprouts from each of the five points of the star pendant. as she hovers, she draws into a fetal position, and the tails of flame start to swirl around her. Two of them attach to her back at the shoulderblades and arc upward, forming the impression of wings. The other three soar around her, one travelling first in a circle around her forehead, then a spiral down her neck and torso. As the other two circle her arms and legs, her fuku starts to appear in all three locations; first her headband/tiara, then her collar, bodice, and waistband. The lower half of the fuku follows; the skirt area flashes into being, followed by her gloves and boots. The last thing to appear is a sword-belt at her waist, with a slim one-handed sword (think rapier) hanging from it. As the flame fades away, her entire fuku is in place and she is ready to go, with the ruby star a large red crystal attaching her collar to the bodice of her fuku. When her henshin fades, the crystal returns to its normal pendant size.

Introduction Speech: "As the volcanic eruption brings both destruction and life in its path, so I will bring life for the innocent and destruction for evil! I am Sailor Mars!"

Weapon: Kyusai as Sailormars carries a rapier-like sword with her at all times. She also keeps the main gauche, the short blade for the offhand, sheathed at the back of her swordbelt. Neither of these weapons has a proper "name".

Attacks:

NOTE: Due to her deathly fear of fire, it is rare that she is willing to use her fire-based magical attacks, even for her own protection. Thus, she gave birth to a sailor fuku that would allow her to fight in a form of melee combat that suits her well instead. The minor bursts of flame her sword and main gauche tend to produce are something she will eventually grow used to, and unless the situation is dire, she much prefers hand-to-hand melee combat to a magical foray.

-Mars Shielding Flame (Defensive) : Sailormars brings her arms together across her chest in the shape of an X. She bows her head and closes her eyes, saying the first two words of this maneuver. She then turns her arms and straightens them, reaching out to the sides from her body. Fire swirls in a circle around her feet, and when the orange fire finally turns crimson, she cries the last word of the attack, and reaches both arms high above her head. The red fire rushes upward, forming an impenetrable cylindar around her body. This is a shielding maneuver that will protect her from one attack.

-Mars Incandescent Execution (Offensive) : Sailormars draws her sword as she whispers the first word of the attack, pulls the small off-hand blade from its sheath as she says the second in a slightly louder voice. At this point, each blade begins to burn with a red-hot glow like it's still being forged. She sweeps the rapier in a long, arcing curve, tracing a line of fire in the air, and twirls in a full circle. She crosses the first line of flame with a red line drawn with the main gauche. She brings the two blades together in front of the burning X, closes her eyes for a moment, and waits for the blades to burst into flame. At this point she brings her arms back, and then lunges forward, both weapon points straight out. As they pierce the center of the flaming X in the air, she yells out the last word of her attack and sends a bolt of searing crimson flame toward the enemy. The fire will have effects anywhere from severe burns to complete incineration depending on the strength of the foe.

-Mars Impassioned Restoration (Healing) : Sailormars brings her hands together in front of her brooch, and a tiny bead of red flame grows between her palms as she whispers the first word of the magic. She moves her hands a little farther apart, and the bead grows to something baseball-sized as she speaks the second word. She moves her hands farther apart and begins to change the shape and intent of the flame then, turning it into a glowing red stream of mist as she does so. Finally, as she speaks the last word, the mist trail soars through the air and spirals around the injured team member, restoring his or her wounds and returning them to full health.

~The fuku design, I admit, is GREATLY inspired by Sheik's design in the soon-to-arrive Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I hope I have kept individuality at least a little inherent; I never actually looked at Sheik's design. I suppose I wanted a little bit of desert nomad flavoring, mixed with ninja, mixed with the sense of someone who could torch your ass in a heartbeat if the situation called for it. I think I got it. X3
